Benefit Dinner Raises $1,382

Nearly $1,400 was raised at a benefit dinner hosted by the Griffin Road church of Christ this past Saturday, May 22. Approximately 75 people met at the West Broward congregation's facilities in Plantation for a Family Fun Night consisting of food, fellowship and games. The donations collected will be applied to the camp's General Operations fund.

Following a delicious meal of spaghetti, meatballs, bread, salad, mixed vegetables, drinks and dessert, Ron Brackett, Camp Director, spoke about the camp's mission, as well as, improvements and events taking place on the CFBC campus. It was an wonderful evening of meeting new friends  and renewing old acquaintance, all of whom share a love for Central Florida Bible Camp.

Special thanks go to:

  • the West Broward church of Christ for hosting the event at their facility;
  • the Griffin Road church of Christ for organizing the activities and sponsoring the food for the evening;
  • Brett Shannon, Brad Poyet, Luis Estrada, Jordon Soto, Frank Dellapace and Eddie Capiro for coordinating the sporting events;
  • Andy and Belinda Garcia, Mirti Murray, and Margaret McAfee for cooking and serving the awesome food;
  • Dave Murray for coordinating and serving as the catalyst for the entire event; and
  • all those who attended and donated.

The following morning, Ron and his wife, Elizabeth, were privileged to worship with the Griffin Road congregation where Ron was afforded another opportunity to present the story of Central Florida Bible Camp during the Bible class hour.The friendliness and attentiveness of the Griffin Road brethren was amazing and the worship together was uplifting. John Palmer presented an excellent sermon, encouraging Christians to be participants in the Lord's work rather than just spectators. This is an active and growing congregation -- truly a light to their community.

Ron would be happy to visit your congregation and present information about the work and ministry of Central Florida Bible Camp. Please call the camp office at 352-357-6316 to schedule a date.

Chairs for Chapel

Thanks to help from some of our Sojourners back in December, we were able to make some cosmetic enhancements to the Barton Pavilion, aka, Barton Chapel. The interior walls were painted and the concrete floor was resurfaced with a colored epoxy coating. It really looks nice.

But as is often the case when you spruce up one thing, other things that share the same space then look even worse. So it is with the old chairs that we have had for so long. They were used when we got them many years ago and they have served us well, but the newness of the Chapel's interior makes the old chairs look really, really bad.

So we are announcing "Chairs for Chapel" to save the day!

Land Surveyor Needed

For you long-time Camp supporters, you will remember the days when our campus was located out in the boondocks. Driving to camp required many miles on backwoods roads with few signs of civilization along the way. If you did not make the trip often, every time was an adventure, wondering if you were on the right path or not.
