Dream Big, Pray Big, Trust God

Written by Ron Brackett on 28 November 2017.

One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 3:20…

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works in us.

There are three thoughts in this verse that are very meaningful to me:

Dream Big. I have a vivid imagination. And, as a result, I can come up with some big (some have said crazy—go figure) ideas. But even my imagination is way too small for God, who is able to do exceedingly… abundantly… above all… that even I can dream up. He is able to accomplish things far beyond our wildest dreams, so I don’t want to limit God’s willingness to help by being “small” in my thinking.

Pray Big. Even when we dream big, however, sometimes we still think and pray “small.” In life, we may limit our requests of others because “that’s just too much to ask.” Sadly, we sometimes do that with our heavenly Father also. But as His children, we should never be hesitant about making our requests known to God (Phil. 4:6), whatever they are.

Trust God. I’ve heard it said… pray like it all depends on prayer and work like it all depends on work. That’s a good way to approach things, provided we humbly submit ourselves and accept God’s will, whatever that may be. You see, If God wants a work or ministry done, it will be done. Our hope should be that He can use us to get it accomplished. In every area of our life, we need to allow God to work through us to get His will accomplished according to His timing and His methods. We can accomplish a lot when we work hard, but we can do so much more when we allow God to work in us.

I am so thankful to be associated with people like you (staff, volunteers, donors and Board) who believe in the ministry of CFBC and are willing to Dream Big, Pray Big and Trust God. There’s a lot of good things happening at CFBC, but “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.” Stay tuned.
